I installed new head gaskets on my Toyota / 3VZE and spaced changing the knock sensor (although it had not issues prior to dis-assembly). After completin...
The knock sensor in an engine is used to send signals to the engine-control computer if this action is detected, thus preventing a detonation from happening. In a sense, the knock sensor is a microphone placed in the engine to listen to any unusual noises that the engine makes. A knock sensor is often located bolted on the center of the wall of the cylinder block. There are also some vehicles ...
I'm getting a check engine light. Codes are knock sensor code (p0328#, and Coolant Thermostat #Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature# #p0128). Sounds like a $1000 job to fix the former, and not sure on the latter. I live in Italy, so not sure there's even a dealer around here that can do it, and it doesn't sound like a do-it-yourself job.
· This video provides a great walk through on how to step-by-step change your Honda Element Knock Sensor. Please do yourself the favor and replace this with an OEM genuine Honda knock sensor, it’s not too expensive on Amazon! I have a link below to the OEM product. If you ask in the group everyone will say the cheap $10 ones go bad right away ...
· Faulty Knock Sensor. Some engines make use of a knock sensor (KS) which assists in detecting the frequency vibrations created by detonation, pre-ignition and knocking. The computer of your car makes use of this information to hinder timing. So when a KS failed, it can bring about pre-ignition as well as knocking. Knock sensor can be tested by using a wrench or hammer to hit the …
Its function is to control the flow of coolant that passes through the radiator, depending on the engine temperature. WAX Thermostats. These are based on the characteristics of special waxes with a high dilation coefficient. This type of Thermostat possesses a …
Since 1946, here at Facet we design, manufacture and distribute car spare parts. From sensors to thermostats, from ignition components to switches, our 4,500 products make one of the most complete ranges on the market, with a particularly high coverage of the European, Japanese and Korean brands.
· In that case, a thermostat without a sensor won’t be of much help as it will be able to gauge the temperature of only one floor. But if you place the thermostat on one floor, and the sensor on another, then the thermostat will be able to gather proper information through the thermostat and control the temperature to your comfort.
· Knock sensors should not allow the engine to ping. You have something else happening here that needs to be diagnosed properly. The thermostat temperature value is chosen as part of the MDS calibration. An exhaust manifold leak can sound like spark knock. You are using the correct 5W-20 motor oil? Leaky or mis-routed plug wires can cause spark ...
· Today I was replacing the thermostat housing for my father's XJ8 and upon buttoning everything back up, I'm getting the two knock sensor circuit low codes. I'm unsure as to what could be causing it, as I was extra careful not to mess with the knock sensors. They stayed dry and I made sure to keep the connectors dry and safe also. I let the car run a while and also cleared the codes, but of ...
· The sensor in question is a lambda, oxygen or air/fuel ratio mixture sensor. In closed loop mode, the engine listens to this sensor to adjust fuel/air mixture. In open loop mode, it doesn’t and thinks the engine is still cold. The Thermostat Has Two Important Functions: To accelerate engine warm-up. To regulate the engine’s operating ...

· Tighten Knock Sensor 1 (G61) Check Wiring and Connections. Check Knock Sensor 1 (G61) and Knock Control. Special Notes. This feature search for unusual (spontaneous) combustion. The sensor detects unusual vibrations and based on that it generates a voltage. Is this voltage outside a certain limit a dtc will be set.
The knock sensor is simply screwed with the necessary torque (!) onto a suitable surface of the cylinder block and is connected with the engine control module electrically by wires 1 and 2. A most often ring-shaped mass (blue), clamped with a certain preliminary tension, counteracts inside the knock sensor oscillations of the engine. Thereby it ...

The knock sensor monitors the combustion process in the engine. Its signal helps the engine control to prevent knocking combustion and therefore protect the motor/engine control. On this page we will provide you with various information, including how a defective knock sensor becomes noticeable, the causes that may lead to its failure, and how it can be tested in the workshop.
