Thermal sensors for security purposes are often limited to a resolution of 640×480, which is much lower than most current visible sensors. However, it’s important to know that the types of details detected by thermal and visible cameras are very different; a high level of detail isn’t as critical with thermal cameras.
Maximum IR detection range in vacuum. Note that the factor for atmospheric attenuation, t, has been omitted from this equation. Recall that the atmospheric attenuation is a function of range. This would make it impossible to write an equation for range in a closed-form. Therefore, the maximum range that is predicted by this formula, does not include atmospheric attenuation. This factor can be ...
· Infrared sensors can detect the infrared light from far distances over a large area , They detect the movement , making them ideal for the security purposes , They help the humans see what the other devices do not allow them to see , such as the leaks in underground pipes . Infrared Detector disadvantages. As Infrared detectors detect the infrared images based on the temperature variants …
It depends on what kind of IR sensor you are using. If it is reflector type sensor where both Tx and Rx sit side by side, it gives you a maximum distance of 10–15Cm (may vary slightly depending on the brightness of the IR led. It depends on the current that we feed to it (and hence on the current limiting resistor used in series with it).
· I am working on a IR based object detector. I understand the basics of how it functions, , 38kHz pulse through an IR LED and read the output pin of the IR sensor. The problem is that the range upto which I can detect objects is only around 5-10 cms depending of the surface of the object.

· But I needed a large range (because the sensor will be used in vehicles like trains) and read that ultrasonic waves won't be able to detect the obstruction at a large distance quite as well. Because they spread out, there might be some disturbances (unwanted elements being detected). So I thought I'd ask if there were alternatives to ultrasonic sensors that still have the large range, or if ...
These sensors are good for detection between 100cm-500cm (1-5 meters / 3-15 feet). The long range makes them a good alternative to sonar sensors. Please note: the wire colorings are not intuitive! Watch out before wiring!
· The IR transmitter is a particular LED that emits radiation in the frequency range of infrared, invisible to the naked eye. An infrared LED just works as a simple LED with a voltage of 3V DC and a current consumption of about 20mA. The IR receiver, such as a photodiode or a phototransistor, is capable of detect infrared radiation emitted from the IR transmitter. Aesthetically it is similar to ...
The Range IR is a small lightweight single ended sensor designed for capturing wildlife and birds. The transmitter and receiver are integrated into the same housing making the Range IR extremely easy to use. It is small and lightweight for easy travel. The sensor is powered by 2AA batteries (not included).
The Range IR is the perfect backyard sensor for birds and mammals. It is by far the easiest to use sensor we have ever developed. There is no separate transmitter and receiver, this sensor has both integrated into the same package. To use this sensor simply point it where you expect your subject to be and adjust the distance knob so it will not detect anything behind your target area. We like ...
The combined UVIR detector using a performant UV sensor is limited in terms of detection range (a distance of detection), by the infrared part. The IR sensor is curbed to keep a “reasonable” activation of the IR chain by the surrounding thermal background. By using extra information in the IR band, via a second sensor, this increases the gain of the amplification chains of the detector and ...
InGaAs detectors. 6 µm is sensitivity limit of InSb, PbSe, PtSi detectors and MCT detectors are optimised for 35 µm atmospheric window; and finally wavelength 15 µm is a long wavelength sensitivity limit of HgCdTe detectors optimised for 814 µm atmospheric window.
Our cooled sensor thermal cameras are designed to have the best long-range detection. We have a wide variety of long-range continuous zoom lenses, allowing the operator to smoothly transition between wide angle and long range. Our germanium lenses are available in lengths of up to 1400mm, allowing us to reach detection ratings of over 50km.
